Blizzard Bags
Update - November 15, 2018
With the approaching storm Ms. Soucy and I felt we should update you on the Blizzard Bag plan. The NH Department of Education has approved our plan for three Blizzard Bag Days. Knowing that everyone loves a real snow day, the first day will be a true Snow Day. No Blizzard Bags. On future snow days Mr. Petralia, our superintendent will announce if it is a Blizzard Bag Day or not in his no school announcement. If he announces it is a Blizzard Bag day, the school websites will have all materials posted for your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. Soucy and Mrs. Lull
(RJH and RES principals)

Rye Jr. High School will be participating in the Remote
Instruction Days Program, otherwise
known as Blizzard Bag Days.
The purpose of a Remote Instruction Day
is to allow students the
ability to use time out of the classroom due
to snow, inclement weather or other
emergency days to qualify as school days.
The New Hampshire Department of
Education will consider a Blizzard Bag day
a school day when students engage in at-home learning opportunities that align with
school and state standards and the school
district has 80% participation by students.
We are excited about the opportunity to
offer this program in our school and feel it
will promote a variety of engaging learning
opportunities to our students. Further, we
are thrilled that our students’ educational
opportunities will not be disrupted due to
emergency weather-related closures.
