FRENCH and SPANISH

Students continue to learn French and Spanish through topic-based units, practicing listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They exchange basic information, follow classroom directions, and explore the culture of French or Spanish-speaking communities.

Students will have 1 quarter each of French and Spanish in 5th and 6th grade. At the end of 6th grade, students will choose either French or Spanish for their 7th and 8th grade year.

FRENCH or SPANISH

Students develop novice-level skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through topic-based units in French or Spanish. They will learn to exchange basic information, follow classroom instructions, and describe familiar topics in their target language. Cultural connections are explored, and regular homework and assessments support learning while building a foundation for continued study in French or Spanish.

In 7th grade students will particpate in 2 quarters of French 1A or Spanish 1A. In 8th grade, students will continue in French 1B or Spanish 1B for a year-long course.
